A nice slow Sunday.

There was 60kms to do today. With cloud cover and lots of tree shade – it made for an easier day.

There was a lot of stops to get updates on the Dragons/Tigers game.
I got to watch the boats using the locks while he was checking the scores.
We stopped at a town called Castelnaudary for lunch (where we sat and talked to some kiwis from the Mount and Hawkes bay that had just finished a canal boat holiday. The lock here had 4chambers.
This is the port in Castelnaudary. It’s a base for one of the major boat hiring companies.
A bit further along. We rode over the waterway that feeds the canal. It has come from the Basin de St Ferreol. We are now at the highest point of the canal. (tomorrow will be downhill!!👏🏻)
There is an Obelisk here to commemorate Pierre Riquet and his canal.

Tomorrow ends the Midi canal journey when we get to Toulouse. We’ll spend a few days there, then will head down the Garonne canal to Bordeaux.
