Sete to Beziers

We left Sete at about 7.30 this morning. We rode along the coast like this for about 20kms.
Before turning inland through Agde and heading to to the Midi canal.
Nope, this is not it.
We’re getting there. (I took the long way round)
Aha! Found it.
It was very busy with people on holidays.
It’s nice to see the locks again. We had our coffee here and watched this guy struggling with the ropes.
We were so keen to go over the canal that went over the river, we missed our turn off to Beziers!
We should be over there by St Nazaire Cathedral.
This beautiful mural is on the wall of our place tonight.
Which is just above the Place des Bon Amis. (A famous spot where 4 unfortunate rebels were beheaded – a while back)
There’s another summer festival on in Beziers all week. A DJ was playing at the markets here while we had lunch.
So we mingled in.
Michael even joined the end of the conga line.
Thousands of locals were out. Each bar had its music going, there were stages set up every 50 metres with different bands playing. Nearly everyone was dressed in red our white. (Our fav colours:)
With food and drink stalls lining the streets.
And of course the Abrivado.
This little one came and perched himself up with us.
Too cute.

So, it’s been a late night. It was midnight by the time we headed back to our apartment.

– that’s our apartment upstairs (I’m looking at the plaque/stone carvings of the 4 beheaded rebels)

We have really enjoyed everything about this gorgeous town! It has such a history.

Look up The Cathars and Crusades.
