Dang, 2 minutes into our day and we hit a road block.
Chief Navigator finding us a way round.
The rest of the trip was easy – we were right next to the river most of the way.
The track is getting very busy with other cyclists.
Vieshofen. First look at the cruise ships lined up. (And an airstrip on this side of the river)
It is picture postcard pretty.
This bear was out the front of our coffee stop. Brown bears were historically common in the forests and mountains of Bavaria. (this one’s for you – Michelle – we know you ‘have a thing’ for bears;)
We rode across the Kachel locks and dam to arrive in Passau.

Then stopped at the first bike shop we saw. They sent us to another shop up the road (who fixed some bearings in the pedal body 🤷🏻‍♀️) we left – then had to turn around and go back as it still wasn’t resolved. Finally – it was done and the click has stopped.🤞🏻

We checked into our hotel and went into town.
Originally a Celtic settlement, then the Romans set up in the 5th Century on the South side of the city.
So many little laneways.
A fire in 1662 destroyed most of the old city – it was then rebuilt in Baroque style
It’s a lovey city where three rivers join together. We’ll get some pictures of the confluences in the morning.

We had a couple of beers in a busy marketplace. We picked out some other Aussies for a chat (the singlets and thongs gave them away).

So, we’re into Austria tomorrow. Thank you Germany for your hospitality.

We give you a 9 out of 10 for your bike paths and signage.👏🏻

Ps. Sorry NZ (& Germany) for this being late – I needed to have a ‘nappetiser’ before going to press tonight. (that’s a little sleep before bedtime;)

We definitely should make shirts that say ‘I don’t work on Sundays!’ 😁
