Tuttlingen to Sigmaringen.
Todayโs stage was one with stunning scenery with our route following the Danube as it cut through the narrow twisting gorge through forested limestone hills. We travelled through a string of small villages and castles perched on the cliffs above.
The 55km today was mostly asphalt pathway as well as some crushed granite.
It threatened to rain but we were lucky – we had a tiny bit of drizzle and after weโd arrived at our guest house it did start.๐ง๏ธ

Along the ride today, there are a few places where, in the summer, the water in the river disappears in the karstified rock floor and then reappears as if nothing happened.
The seeped water finds its way through underground cave systems. However, unlike the Danube above ground, it doesnโt flow eastwards into the Black sea, but into the North Sea via The Rhine. This phenomenon is unique in the world. On almost 200 days a year the sinking sites are completely dry.

We had a late lunch/early dinner and since weโre still feeling a little โjet laggedโ weโll have an early night.
