It sure was spectacular views today.

It was a 66km day with a very long steep hill to go up.

Catching our breath and chatting to a German cyclist.

There were three tunnels to go through this morning. The longest was 365m and I’d had decided to walk through them as it’s pitch black in the middle. (Surprisingly we didn’t have any traffic in them though)🙌🏻

This is the Decebalus Rex monument carved into the cliff side. (Apparently the tallest sculpture in Europe) he’s the last king of Dacia AD87-AD106.
Me and ‘the driver’ at the top ready for the cruise down to the hydro dam and border to Romania.
Good bye Serbia.🇷🇸 thank you!
At the Serbian border. We couldn’t get pictures on the Romanian side – they are funny about people taking photos around the dam.

Once we got through the Romanian border, the traffic was fecking horrendous for 10kms until a bypass took the trucks away.

Then we pulled up to the Continental Hotel where we are staying tonight. It’s very Soviet Block era. But everyone here is very welcoming.
The Castello de Aly water tower – the symbol of Drobeta-Turnu Severin.
A walk around the fortress after dinner
We’re really hoping our bikes will still be chained up out the front tomorrow morning.🤞🏻🤞🏻
