We had a good day with two different tours of the city.

In the morning we saw the fortress, the military bunker in the fortress grounds and the Roman well. Then finished with a drink on the Suva river. We met Steven the Scot and had a couple more beers with him after the tour finished.👋🏻

Had some lunch, then went back for an evening tour with Bo, who was very kind to share a lot of information both of history and politics. We actually walked through a road that was setting up for a protest tonight (it was being broadcast from Novi Sad, where we were a few nights ago!) the protests are all over the news channels tonight with thousands of people attending. There seems to be a lot of corruption going on – our guide tonight even suggesting that some of the politicians in power now are actually children of old communist leaders. 🫢

Any how, here’s a snapshot of today.

Heading into the grounds of the fortress.
Inside the Roman Well.
I had to hold onto my phone really tight.
Then into the bunkers under the hill.
Before going down into the gunpowder storage room that the Austrians dug out a few hundred years ago.
It was used as a nightclub in the 90’s. It now houses Roman plinths, coffins and headstones found around Serbia.
Belgrade back in the day.
St Marks Orthodox Church
The bohemian area of Belgrade.
Getting ready for the protests this evening.
The whole street was blocked off for them.
Which we saw on tv later.

Time to go…
