We kept to footpaths as much as we could and were relieved when we made it to the riverside promenade.

Leaving the apartment this morning at 7am thinking we’d beat the traffic into the city. We didn’t.
A sunken houseboat.
Crossing the river into Belgrade
The former Austrian gunboat Sava- now permanently moored here, fired the opening bombardment of the first WW, shelling Belgrade on 29/07/1914.

This City goes back to 29bc with the Romans and has changed hands many times.

It has been fought over in 115 battles and destroyed 44 times. All this means that by 1900 the city had very little in the way of historical buildings. (During the 2nd WW the city was bombed by both Germans (1941) and Allied forces (1944)

Making our way to our apartment.

We’ve spent today wandering around. Tomorrow we’ve got a couple of different tours organised.

Thought we’d test out the local dishes. Mine was stuffed peppers. (w mince and spices) 👍🏻👍🏻
