Even at 7am it was a busy main road that we left on this morning. About 10kms along we took a turn onto the flood dyke and stayed there for the 34kms left into Novi Sad.

This track soon made us forget the first 10km on the main road.
Outskirts of the city. (Zoom up on the cars on the roof)
This Soviet era helicopter has been a fixture in this building for some time. When Mum and Dad came through 11 years ago it was in a night club. Now it’s in a gym.
The Petrovaradin Fortress.
There are all new bridges over the Danube. In 1999 NATO’s bombing raids during the Kosovo campaign destroyed all three bridges and severely damaged the city.

We really didn’t know what to expect here, but we absolutely love it! Everyone’s been very friendly and you can feel there is a real sense of community. We spoke to our receptionist about the issues Novi Sad /the Serbians have faced and she said it’s only been recently since a huge influx of immigrants that they’ve had any trouble.

Without knowing ‘all the ins and outs’ we get a sense that the Serbians seemed to have got a rough deal out of all the troubles in the Balkans – they seem to be a friendly and easy going people who love their family and country. 🇷🇸

Our place.👌🏻
There was a teeny tiny room to put our bikes, but we made them fit.

We’re right in the middle of town in a pedestrian only area. It’s filled with cafes and restaurants. We can’t believe how many people are out on a Tuesday night enjoying the atmosphere.

This guy was making a killing!

What a great day and night we’ve had here.
