(Sounds like Basha Palanka)

Only 41kms to do, but apparently the road descends four times steeply to the river level and climbs back equally steeply.🫢

Quick coffee before leaving Vukovar.

But peeved that today is Monday and an archaeological site called Vucedol is closed.

This all happened 3000BC !
This is how it started this morning.

But 50 metres after I took this photo, we were out on the road. For the rest of the ride. One section was busy (with trucks too – but they were pretty good at giving us space)

Opatovac
Mohovo
Sarengrad
Ilok- the old Castle now stores local wines.
And then just like that we were leaving Croatia.
Crossing The Danube
Then going through the Serbian Border.

And into Backa Palanka.

Checked in. Then went for lunch.
Weird. They give you gloves to eat your burgers with. Not sure this would catch on back home.
Downtown Backa Palanka.

I know it doesn’t look it here, but it was busy in town with everyone on bikes. We came across a bike shop and the nice guy – Marco that owned it replaced Michael’s brake pedal cable – it cost $8.50 🙌🏻 575 Dinar…for an hour’s work!

There are A LOT of notes with the local currency, all in the 1000’s. But like Croatia, Serbia is pretty cheap compared to where we’ve been.

$5 AUD for a G & T, tonight’s accommodation is $56 AUD,

$2 AUD for coffee…happy days!😁

Looking for a supermarket. It’s always a lottery what we’re going to come out with though. I thought I bought butter the other day – it was tofu. And instead of milk I got sour cream. Not so good in coffee.
