Still a long way to go (so you all keep telling me)

Another early start. It’s going to be another hot day.

We were up before the roosters started this morning.
The plains of Hungary.

This photo was taken just after a hungry dog started chasing us out of town. (Or should I say – a Hungarian dog) anyhow, it wanted some kiwi bird for Brekky. We had to out run it.

Coming through Fokto – there’s lots of storks nests everywhere.
We jumped back up on the flood dyke and this took us all the way to Baja. 44.5kms.
Where we stopped for a really good coffee.
Baja town square.
As we were leaving – we ran into our UK friend Roger who is going as far as Osijek in Croatia.
A quick pit stop…(we needed the shade – it’s been 36degrees and still a hot headwind!)
And 34kms later, we were pulling into where the ferry crosses the river to Mohács.
Another Eurovelo 6 cyclist. (Susie never misses the opportunity to see what everyone else is doing) He’s a German… and only doing 50kms a day 😁)
Our home for the night.
So we’ve done 88kms today – we deserved a couple of cold Hugo’s.

Mohacs is a beautiful town with a long history. It is best known for its for the battle of the Mohacs (with the Turks) and the 499th anniversary for this is actually today! (Big one next year)

Town hall
King Ladislaus II. (To cut a long story short – he lost the first battle (he drowned – while retreating – crossing a river in a metal suit🧐) – The Turks were in power for 160 years til the next battle where they were defeated and pushed out of Hungary)
The Votive Church – influenced by Islamic architecture.
Our little hotel – it’s very nice.
