This morning seems like a really long time ago- it was 80kms and 15 hours ago.

7am departure.
We took the bridge back across to Slovakia this morning as I had it on good authority from Dad (& I checked out a few websites) that the road on Esztergoms side could get a little hectic.

We could not believe our luck – we had an amazing new bike track (for most of the way around ‘the Danube bend’ to Nagymaros – where we caught the ferry back over for our run into Budapest.

Double checking my route for the day.
Brand spanking new path.
Until it wasn’t…
A quick grease and oil change. And some air in the tyres.
A ferry trip back over the river. (From Nagymaros to Visegrad)
We had a short stretch here on the road – but it wasn’t too bad.
Then it got really good. (yep – this is a bike path)
(He looks like he should have a ‘stop/go’ sign;)
The colourful town of Szetendre which was full of artisan workshops, gallery’s, cafes and restaurants with a promenade along the waterfront.
Along a bit further we stopped at one of the many ‘beachside’ bars and enjoyed the Sunday afternoon vibes.

The bike track into Budapest has been crazy busy with thousands of cyclists out enjoying the last days of Summer.

The bike track took us the whole way to the middle of the City.
We’re in a great little apartment in District V for a few days.
A Langosh. It’s a Hungarian Pizza (deep fried crust with toppings)
We went for a walk along the promenade and came across The shoes on the Danube. A memorial to honour the holocaust victims. (Victims were forced to removed their shoes before being shot into the river)

We’ve got a lot of exploring to do.
